This practice helps us open our hearts to God’s compassion which in turn helps us hold ourselves and others with greater love and compassion. As Christian’s we also believe in the power of prayer so can be encouraged that the blessing we speak will impact on the lives of those for whom we pray. It is about 21 minutes long and can be practiced at any time of day. The blessing that is used within the kindness prayer can also be used on it’s own as a ‘micro-practice’. E.g. if you are thinking about someone, you can simply pray the blessing over them in the moment as they come to mind.
